The Pacific Northwest... murder, kidnapping, revenge, bodies in the woods, the FBI, serial killers... wind chimes. A Deputy Director of the FBI becomes a “person of interest” when his wealthy ex-wife is murdered and their teenage daughter is kidnapped. A second suspect is identified but politics and personal vendettas are higher priorities than bringing a criminal to justice. When Deputy Director Robert Barlow conducts his own investigation, he discovers evidence that a family of pedophiles has been preying on young girls for three generations. However, no evidence links the family to the death of his ex-wife and the kidnapping of his daughter. If justice cannot be found, is vengeance acceptable?

Here we have a fictional crime novel. The plot starts with a murder of a mother and a kidnapping of her teen daughter from the home. Father, divorced from mother, returns to the city of the crime. Father is a deputy director of the FBI. Father, as person of interest, is questioned by cops and has his DNA checked. During the DNA testing, the lab determines something about father. The novel also adds in wealthy families, law firms, sheriffs, calling in favors, and villains. Some villains appear cloaked in mystery. Father even bumps into a helpful chap with a non-profit. The novel reads well and then accelerates after the DNA test results appear.

Avenging Amy David L Linhardt 9781469957968 Books Reviews

Avenging Amy is a page turner. It is written with incredible realism. Linhardt has a similar style to that of Clancy and Coben combined, with clearity of detail and a plot full of twists. The characters come to life in a variety of settings from Portland to DC. It is easy to follow as the story flows in a chonological sequence of events that spans over a few months. Barlow, the main character is easy to identify with as a special agency hero that comes out with his guns blazing. It can be likened to that of a modern day Clint Eastwood or John Wayne movie with similar endings. This book is not for the faint of heart, but is well written and informative.
