Having met the author I wanted to read at least one of her books. The book in my opinion ended the action part of the plot a little quicker than I'd like. There was however good character development.Product details

Into the Crossfire edition by Kelly Yeakle Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Into the Crossfire is a fast paced, intelligent and eye opening story. While I don't usually read FF books, this one caught my attention with strong heroines and intriguing plotline.
This is a somewhat unnerving story even knowing it is completely fabricated, almost like an apocalypse scenario. Actually, the condensed time frame wherein almost everybody's rights are trashed and only strict observers of a Bible belt type religious dogma with women and children considered as chattel was rather frightening. Could such a scenario occur? What happens is a complete restriction on our fundamental rights with a hard line patriarchal society practically taking control overnight. Considering the current United States Congress, I would have to say no. However, there is a very devilish force at work within this novella!
Sasha Jones is one tough cookie law enforcement person. Although, her work is mainly within the evidence labs, she is a crack shot since she utilizes the gun range and finds it very therapeutic shooting the shit out of paper crotches. Guys or gals can relieve her `horny' episodes, but she currently has a f*** buddy and he is just fine for Sasha. Additionally, Sasha's is a heavy smoker and drinker. Most of all her sexual activity takes a severe hit when almost overnight everything deemed immoral by the Later Day Apostles becomes illegal. This ain't Sasha's idea of a good thing!
Peyton Oslow's father is a Later Day Apostle. She is two years past the age her parents thought she should have been married and certainly she is not propagating. She works at the library which is sort of acceptable, but being married, a mother, and a dutiful wife is what has been drilled into her over and over as the only thing a woman should desire. Peyton lucks out when Sasha saves her several times from unsavory folk and situations. In the process, these two gals hit it off and the timing couldn't have been better for both of them!
Just as the takeover by the Later Day Apostles seems a bit unrealistic, the grass roots revolution to expose the infamy and overthrow the unscrupulous new leaders is a bit hard to swallow. So, I said to myself "Self,...this is really a modern day allegory." Wow, I could live with that and in so doing enjoyed this story every so much more. It doesn't really require a tongue in cheek skill, just a bit of belief that the good guys should win. How they win was very slick and I loved that! Give this hoot and a half a try and possibly enjoy it as much as I did.
Ordered based on a review that I saw on TV. It was not what I expected so I was very disappointed.
